"Opportunity to participate
in the propagation of the Buddha Sasana
in the Tradition of the late Mogok Sayadawgyi"

The first Mogok Centre outside Myanmar (Burma) was opened in London in September 2004. Venerable U Sobhana, Mogok Kamatthanacariya, Digha Nikaya Kawida , of Shwe Myint Mo Kyaung Taik, assisted by Sayadaw U Asabha, was the presiding Sayadaw, preaching Dhamma, conducting Saturday Talks and meditation sessions. In November they returned to their own Mogok Vipassana Dhamma Yeiktha in South Okkalapa. Mani Yadanar Sayadaw U Pandita, Mogok Kamatthanacariya, Dwi Pitakadhara, of Chauk Htike Gyi Kyaung Taik arrived on 9th December with Venerable U Vasettha to preach in East London for 6 months. Then Sayadaw U Sandar Siri and Venerable U Indaka came. Currently the presiding Sayadaws are Sayadaw U Kit Sar Ya Na and U Vasettha. More senior Mogok Sayadaws will be invited in the future in rotation.

The venerable monks are currently residing in a 4-bed detached house in mid-Beckton, East London, and the running cost is met by the Buddhist Aid Trust which is running the Centre. Other requisites, alms food, robes, and medicines are provided by local Myanmars, mostly doctors, scholars, students and other devotees from essex, Kent and other parts of the UK. The Sayadaw is 65 years old and is a very experienced preacher and has been delivering Weekly Saturday Talks from December 2005 onwards from 7.00 to 7.30 pm in Myanmar. All are welcome to attend. Talks in English are also being given on Tuesdays at 7 pm.

In Myanmar in addition to the Main Mogok centre in Yangon, there are hundreds of Meditation Centres or monasteries in most towns running Vipassana meditation sessions and retreats according to the method taught by Mogok Sayadawgyi. We are aware that there is no such centres outside Myanmar. With this in mind, we have attempted to start the first one and so far achieving what we expects. We are grateful to the Mogok Kamatthanacariyas for their Dhamma Duta missions. We need support from all Myanmar Buddhists especially followers of the Late Mogok Sayadawgyi to help us build a permanent dwelling place for the visiting Sayadaws as well as facilities for yogis from all over the UK and Western World.

You may visit the Mogok website at http://www.mogok.co.uk for latest information on activities at the centre.
